Lakeland Photo International is pleased to announce a fantastic new trip to the USA in September 2013. Planned in conjunction with KE Travel it will be a 14 night fully escorted trip flying into Jackson, Wyoming. The trip starts with two National Parks the Grand Tetons and then Yellowstone. Then the trip will follow the Rockies south, taking in Moab, Monument Valley, Bryce Canyon and ending at the Grand Canyon and flying home from Las Vegas. This truly is a road trip with a photographic extravaganza to dream about.
Sample Itinerary
Day 1: Rendezvous at the group hotel in Bozeman (just north of Yellowstone). A single group transfer from airport to hotel is provided. KE Land Only package services begin with the overnight stay at the group hotel in Bozeman.
Day 2: We will have an early rendezvous with the guide and drive out to take the first photos of the holiday. Drive to the north entry of Yellowstone with photo opportunities en route. Overnight in a hotel near the north entrance to the park. Evening shots of the Mammoth Hot Springs area, near our hotel.
Day 3: We start the day in the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and continue to Old Faithful and Morning Glory Pool. Short walks are required to get to the best locations, such as Grand Prismatic Springs.
Day 4: An early start to capture the morning light on the Grand Teton and other classic locations such as Grand Bend. Afternoon drive to Salt Lake City. Light permitting, we may stop on the shores of the Great Salt Lake to take in the vast expanse of sky and salt. Overnight downtown Salt Lake City.
Day 5: We have the option of a photo shoot in Salt Lake City, before continuing our largely desert journey to Moab, which we reach in early afternoon. We spend the late hours of the day photographing Dead Horse Point State Park. Overnight Moab.
Day 6: Optional early start to frame the sunrise at Canyonlands' Mesa Arch. Then we head to Arches National Park. The best light is in the afternoon, so we explore the park on easy trails. No-one will want to miss sunset at Delicate Arch. Overnight Moab.
Day 7: This morning we can target either Canyonlands or Arches. Then, we head across to Monument Valley for stunning sunset photography. There is an additional cost option of a sunset jeep tour. Overnight in Mexican Hat.
Day 8: Early morning sunrise shots at Monument Valley, then we continue to Lake Powell. En route, we pass Antelope Canyon, a popular slot canyon. If we want to visit the canyon, a fee must be paid locally. Evening photo opportunities at Lake Powell including an optional sunset boat trip. Overnight Page.
Day 9: Free time in the morning, then a 10 minute drive and a short walk to the overlook for Horseshoe Bend, once the light falls into the canyon of the Colorado. We then drive to Bryce Canyon in time for sunset from the rim. The photography is astounding. Overnight Bryce.
Day 10: Sunrise photography at Bryce Canyon. Then, we walk through some of the formations, taking in the amazing light and red rock pillars. In the afternoon, we drive to Kanab where we stay in an authentic Mormon Village with lots of opportunities for photography. Overnight Kanab.
Day 11: Our objective today is to get shots from the amazing North Rim Grand Canyon viewpoint of Toroweap. Accessed by a 4WD drive, the best light is during the day and afternoon. Return to overnight at Kanab.
Day 12: A leisurely start and a chance to relax as we drive around to the South Rim Grand Canyon, crossing only bridge over the canyon at Lees Ferry. Photo opportunities en route, including Desert Tower and Mather Point, hopefully at sunset. Overnight Grand Canyon.
Day 13: Today we photograph the Grand Canyon from the famous south rim, the area most visited. We will photograph at sunrise and sunset with a break during the day. Overnight Grand Canyon.
Day 14: Another chance to go back to the canyon for sunrise. A helicopter tour of the canyon is an additional cost option, also. Late morning, we drive to Las Vegas with some scenic Route 66 stops along the way. Chance to walk the 'Strip' in the evening. Overnight Las Vegas.
Day 15: KE Land Only package services end with breakfast at the hotel. The hotel provides a free shuttle service to Las Vegas Airport.
